Video transcript: How to Choose a Lift Chair

(upbeat music) - [Narrator] Here are a few important questions to consider in making the perfect lift chair selection. What size lift chair do you need?

[On screen: title card. MED+MART logo, then a play icon with the text "BUYING GUIDE SERIES" and "LIFT CHAIRS", over a blurred showroom of lift chairs.]

[On screen: paper covers on the backs of showroom lift chairs read "Pride Lift Chairs" and "AMERICA'S #1 LIFT CHAIR BRAND".]

Like most things, sizes of lift chairs are primarily small, medium and large. What is not like most things, is the person who is going to be using the lift chair. People come in all shapes and sizes, and don't always fit in into a simple, small, medium and large description. For quick reference, small lift chair would be for someone five foot four, and under. Medium would be someone that is five foot four to 5'10".

And large 5'11" to six foot two. For someone that is over 375 pounds, I would consider an extra wide or heavy duty lift chair. In other words, seat height and seat depth are more important here than the mere size of the chair. How far do you want your lift chair to recline? This may sound like an odd question, but it's actually quite relevant. A lift recliner chair user who just needs a hand

getting up and down but is otherwise mobile should consider a two-position lift chair, which reclines slightly backwards to about a 45 degree angle and is perfect for reading and watching TV. A person with greater mobility limitations, however may spend extended periods of time and their lift chair napping and sleeping. For them, a three position lift recliner may be ideal. This option reclines back to a nearly flat position

that works well for short naps. The most versatile lift recliners are the infinite position models. They can lay completely flat and allow the foot rest to be adjusted regardless of the back rest position. Infinite position lift chairs are best for users who expect to be sleeping in their chair for longer periods of time. What is the right fabric for you? Most of the standard fabrics are semi stain resistant

and extremely durable. If you're looking for a soft and leather look, choose the Brisa or ultra-leather fabric. The synthetic leathers are scientifically engineered to not absorb heat or cold. They can also be easily wiped off with a rag if you make a spill or have issues with incontinence. (upbeat music)
