ReadyWide®’s integrated expansion system provides significant advantages for both patients and caregivers. The “two-click” expansion feature allows for quick adjustments from a 39" to a 42" width, providing a wider surface for safer transfers and ADLs (activities of daily living). This simple yet effective mechanism helps caregivers navigate narrow doorways and provides a hassle-free solution for bed mobility within the facility. The SPAN ReadyWide® is equipped with Intelligent Smart Stop® technology, which improves safety and ergonomics by preventing the bed from lowering to a potentially dangerous position. The system automatically pauses lowering when the deck reaches 12.5" from the floor, requiring staff control to resume the lowering process. This feature not only helps reduce the risk of falls or injury when patients attempt to egress from a bed that’s too low, but also ensures that there’s enough under-bed clearance to avoid obstructions.
