The Hoyer Universal U-Sling is the easiest type of sling to use. However, the U-Sling works best if the patient can get into a sitting position. Lifting while the patient is laying down in bed is more difficult. If patient uses a hospital bed simply raise the head section of the bed before using the sling. The bottom of the sling is completely open so the patient is not sitting on sling. This allows the patient to be easily placed in the sling while sitting in wheelchair, commode or any other type chair.
