Mobility Scooters

How long do I charge my scooter?
How often you need to charge the batteries for your mobility device is determined by how often you use it.
What is a freewheel lever and how do I use it?
When engaged, freewheel levers put your power wheelchair or scooter into "neutral" to allow your mobility device to be pushed. Your mobility device is most likely equipped with two manual freewheel levers, labeled either locked or unlocked.
Can I use car batteries for my scooter?
No. Although they may look the same, a car battery and a traction battery are designed and built completely differently. If car batteries are used they will fail.
Why is it that some days a scooter can do more miles than other days?
This can happen if the weather is very cold and damp. The reason for this is that ALL batteries perform less efficiently under these conditions, that is why it is very important to keep batteries fully charged.
Can I store my scooter or power wheelchair for a long time, such as over winter months?
There are a few things you need to do when storing your vehicle for extended periods without use. Before storing, charge the batteries for 24 hours or more. When ready to store, disconnect the battery box or battery leads from the vehicle. If possible and it is safe to do so, release the parking brake (freewheel).
