Mobility Scooters
How long do I charge my scooter?
How often you need to charge the batteries for your mobility device is determined by how often you use it.
What is a freewheel lever and how do I use it?
When engaged, freewheel levers put your power wheelchair or scooter into "neutral" to allow your mobility device to be pushed. Your mobility device is most likely equipped with two manual freewheel levers, labeled either locked or unlocked.
Can I use car batteries for my scooter?
No. Although they may look the same, a car battery and a traction battery are designed and built completely differently. If car batteries are used they will fail.
Why is it that some days a scooter can do more miles than other days?
This can happen if the weather is very cold and damp. The reason for this is that ALL batteries perform less efficiently under these conditions, that is why it is very important to keep batteries fully charged.
Can I store my scooter or power wheelchair for a long time, such as over winter months?
There are a few things you need to do when storing your vehicle for extended periods without use. Before storing, charge the batteries for 24 hours or more. When ready to store, disconnect the battery box or battery leads from the vehicle. If possible and it is safe to do so, release the parking brake (freewheel).

Power Wheelchairs
What is the difference between center-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive power chairs?
Center-wheel drive chairs, like Golden’s Compass series, offer users the most intuitive driving but placing the drive wheels directly underneath the user. Center-wheel drive allows the user to turn the power chair in its own space, meaning that whatever the footrest clears, the rear caster wheels will clear when turning in a complete circle. Center-wheel drive chairs are preferable in tight indoor spaces. Rear-wheel drive chairs have a larger turning radius meaning you need more space to turn the chair in a complete circle or navigate in tight indoor spaces.
Do I have to recharge the batteries for my power wheelchair every day?
Yes, it's advisable to recharge the batteries every night - regardless of their use during the day. It's especially important to fully-charge your power wheelchair before first-use. If you don't recharge the batteries regularly, it will reduce their ability to hold power.
How do I know when my power wheelchair is fully charged?
The charge indicator that's built into the charger should notify you. However you should always consult your user manual for the exact instructions for your power wheelchair model.
How long will the batteries last on my power wheelchair?
Battery life depends on many factors such as user weight, temperature, use of electronic options, terrain and battery charge status. Battery life that's indicated in your user manual and other documentation is a theoretical maximum values (as according to ISO 7176 standards) and will always be affected by the situation the power wheelchair is used in.

What is the difference between a semi-electric and full-electric hospital bed?
The main difference between these two types of hospital beds is their ability to elevate the bed either electronically or manually. The head and foot of the bed can be controlled with a remote in both fully electric and semi-electric models, but only full electric beds can be raised and lowered with the same remote. Semi-electric beds are typically raised and lowered manually with a hand crank.
What is the standard size of a hospital bed?
A standard size hospital bed is 36 inches wide 80 inch - 82 inch in length. There will normally be extra room on the sides of the bed and a few extra inches along the headboard and footboard to account for the rails, so the total size is normally about 39 to 40 inches wide and 90 inches long.
What is a “Med-Surg” hospital bed?
A “Med-Surg” hospital bed is another name for a fully electric medical bed used in hospitals to take care of the general needs of most patients.
What is Trendelenburg?
The Trendelenburg position places the patient's feet above their heart. This position improves circulation and stretches the lower back.  The Trendelenburg position was promoted as a way to increase venous return to the heart, increase cardiac output and improve vital organ perfusion.
